A memorial is growing on the corner of Mission boulevard and Pedley where on September 25th two women died after being struck by a speeding DUI suspect. According to the Sheriff’s Press release, “Josue Ayala Flores, a 33 year-old resident of San Bernardino, was driving recklessly prior to the collision and he was suspected to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Ayala Flores is also on active parole. On Sunday, September 27, 2020, Ayala Flores was arrested and booked into a local county jail for four counts of Gross Vehicular Manslaughter and one count of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Causing Great Bodily Injury. He is being held in custody on $4,000,000 bail.” This news is little comfort to the grieving Family of Chalsea Rose barely 18 years old, one of the two pregnant victims of this crash. I spoke to the grieving Family tonight who spoke of a bright young woman who was just starting her life, a proud mother to be at 6 months pregnant. Now, she says that after the Doctors tried to save her Daughter’s life, and realizing that she was not responding to the treatments, she now has a grandchild to bury as well. Doctors tried to save the baby but it to did not survive the accident.
