RIVERSIDE: On October 2nd, 2020 around 6 pm Riverside City and County Fire Departments dispatched a Vegetation Fire response in the area of Van Buren and Clay. The County response included Hand crews, Aircraft, Bulldozers, as well as 6 fire engines. Battalion 2 from Riverside City was first to locate the fire in the riverbottom near Julian st, in between Tyler and Van Buren and quickly determined that the fire was well within the City limits and was much smaller than reported; and promptly canceled the County response as City units could handle. Access to the fire was difficult for units to get to, however access was made and Engines 2 and 8 had knockdown within a couple of minutes. Since there was no fire hydrants on the bike path, Watertender 4 was dispatched. The fire was contained to a 50 foot by 200 foot area thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Firefighters.
